Housing in 1970 was difficult because they didn't have all of the tools that we do now and all of the materials. The houses were usually made of brick they didn't have anything special. They would consist of many things that we don't usually have now. Many people though that lived in these houses were pretty happy about what they gave them. A lot of these house are still around today.
In 1970 there were about 140 million Americans eligible to work. That includes anyone that is not in prison or in military over the age of 16. But of those 140 million only 78.5 million were employed full time or part time. Other 4.4 million were unemployed looking for jobs. The rest of the people were in a category called not in labor force.
